    Here is Governing Body member Mark Sanderson reading Micah 6:8 from the New World Translation. Twisting Micah 6:8 to fit the Governing Body's narrative to be ''loyal'' to Jehovah and ingrained into every member's brain to also include the ''Governing Body.'' Dishonesty at its finest!

    Micah 6: 8

    He has told you, O man, what is good.

    And what is Jehovah requiring* of you?

    Only to exercise justice, to cherish loyalty, And to walk in modesty+ with your God!


    Here are 3 other Bible translation of Micah 6:8. Notice how each translation uses ''mercy'' or ''merciful'' while the Watchtower Society twists ''mercy'' into ''loyalty.'' Replacing mercy with loyalty gives the verse an entirely different meaning. It is a deliberate twisting of the scriptures to keep JWs loyal to the organization.

    This is from the “new” new world translation 2013 version. The original new world translation wasn’t worded that way.

    If your teachings don’t agree with the bible, make a new bible.

    Does anyone have an “old” new world translation. I can’t remember how Micah 6:8 was rendered.

    I think the (G)reat (B)ullshit boys are a little nervous these days of losing their flock, seems to be a lot about keeping loyal to them(Jah) these days.

    Biblical scholars have often complained that the word translated as "cherish loyalty" is difficult to translate into English, because it really has no precise equivalent in our language. English versions usually try to represent it with such words as "loving-kindness," "mercy," "steadfast love," and sometimes "loyalty," but the full meaning of the word cannot be conveyed without an explanation, such as the one given here.

    That change is probably the most disappointing one in the RNWT. Completely changes the meaning of the verse.

    In Micah 6:8 the Hebrew word hesed or chesed is being translated as "mercy" in some translations and as "loyalty" in the new Watchtower Bible. Hesed is not easily translated into a single English word. Mercy is on the right track, but there's more to it. However, loyalty is not the idea and being loyal to someone or an organization is definitely not what the author was trying to convey.

    Not quite. It may be expressed as ‘goodness’ or ‘kindness’ or ‘mercy’, but it also conveys a sense of loyalty and mutual obligation within the context of relationships. In fact it is only used where there is a relationship between the parties concerned.

    So it is evident between a husband and wife (Genesis 20:13), between a father and son (Genesis 47:29), between other relatives (Genesis 24:49; 1 Samuel 15:6; Ruth 2:20), between host and guest (Genesis 19:19; Genesis 21:23; Joshua 2:12), between friends (1 Samuel 20:8; 2 Samuel 16:17; Job 6:14) and between a king and his subjects (2 Samuel 3:8; Proverbs 20:28; Isaiah 16:5). It also describes proper behaviour towards others within the community of God's people (Psalms 109:16; Proverbs 11:17; Isaiah 57:1; Micah 6:8; Zechariah 7:9).

    So Micah 6:8 describes the behaviour expected towards those with whom you have a relationship as a community of God's people, which includes showing kindness and mercy and a loyal love due to the bond you have. But it is between individuals, or between God and man, not an organization.
