An American, Jesse Earl Rockwell, 32, from Santa Barbara, California, spent six days at the Larung Gar Buddhist Institute in Garze prefecture, Sichuan Province in China, to photograph this incredible sprawling hillside habitation.
His images show how devoted some humans can be in their desire to expand their imaginative powers.
All these people come to the institute to study Buddhism. IS this place the world's busiest campus?
Rudimentary log cabins, painted in traditional Tibetan red, are piled high along the hillsides and valleys.
They're all centred around a temple structure - the Larung Gar Buddhist Institute.
