As Christmas approaches l thought it would be good to share this idea about a Reverse Advent Calendar . This probably isn't a new thing , but it's the first time that l have heard of it .
We all know about Advent calendars that have chocolate or little presents behind each door . Well the reverse calendar is about putting something back . So you get a box or bag and on each day of Advent put some foodstuff , tins or packets , into it . Our Church is arranging a delivery of all the bags / boxes to the local food bank on the 10th Dec so that it is stocked up for Christmas , so include Christmas goodies as well . Then the rest will go after Christmas to replenish the stock for New Year .
A nice way to count down to Christmas in the true spirit of the season .
It's a great idea Jan, someone at work told me about it. You don't have to belong to a church either, simply take the food to a local supermarket that collects for the food bank.
Hi Xanthippe , yes it works just as well individually , or maybe a group of friends or any club that you belong to could do it collectively .
