Possible reason for cancellation of book study in homes.

I could think that the reason is people getting critical to the food provided by FDS during home studies. I remember in the late 1980's or around 1990 was given directive, where individuals were barred from bible studies at home. Back as a teen we had several people getting together and studied some biblical texts and verses and than headed out to FS or home study. Some of the bible studies were questioning WT doctrines. Later we were told that we cannot study bibles on our own in study group because it would lead to apostasy.

No lawyer/legal advisor would risk their registration and legal standing by disclosing to others his previous clients.

And, for the claimed recipient of this "inside information" to so jeopardize the lawyer/legal advisor's career by putting it on Facebook is as equally implausible.

Oh, it adds nothing substantial to what many here have long suspected - except it advances the speculation in the form of a higher level disclosure. How convenient.

This is the internet, folks, people can and do run with their imaginations and wishful thinking.

The fuel (Gas) price was part of the original reason the WTBTS told us here in NZ that the home book study was finishing. It wasn't long after this that they reversed this reason and then told us that the price of petrol had nothing to do with the home book study arrangement finishing. This updated reasoning was read out to us at more than one meeting.

In some third world countries, all meetings were held on one afternoon in sequence, publishers really could not afford the time and expenses to come 3 times a week. but in other places, the book study was a great occasion to get out, you were already bathed and dressed up, so why not make a few calls, even H2H coming and going? and then it was always fun to see the conductor sweating by questions, comments. It forced all the "servants," elders to really be prepared, whereas now with only one "conductor" and 30 second comments, the heat has been turned off. less spiritual thinking, interaction. The same with the cancelled circuit Overseers extra day, the 8 day conventions , the 2 day circuit meetings. isolate, isolate ;isolate. divide and conquer.

There is usually always something legal when WT changes organizational procedures, some thought it was because of 9/11 and the US didn't want people meeting in groups in homes.

The gas excuse is a load of crap.

Wish some legal would look into elders escorting known criminal pedophiles out in field service like they are the police, I mean if they believe they are repentant and allowed to witness why escort them in case.

The elders always have the option to assign the questionable and troublemakers to the "hall group" and assign the children to the safest homes around. . but these assignments would make the leadership liable, if the householder too lost control or even were unaware of the situations. should have never happened in spiritual paradise.

When my Dad was still an elder around 5 years ago, he mentioned that the book study was moved from homes to hall to reduce liability. Obviously money comes before spiritual gems....

It's all about the $$$$ and avoiding taxes, legal liabilities... $and now the health insurance issues in the US. Esp with overseers travelling in multiple states the coverage issues get messy. Most insurances are fairly localised in networks, and out of network costs become exorbitant.

yeah tiki I agree its usually legal reasons or money reason, but money seems to be the trump.

A refreshing moment of honesty, in retrospect. :smirk:
