Did 9/11 make you think of going back to the KH?

Did the events of September 2001 scare you to the point of wanting to go back to the KH? Many did go back for a while because of 9/11.

Maybe you didn't go back, but did it cross your mind?

I was still attending at the time. Our BS* conductor called and urged me to bring my family, and he said all elders were instructed to do that to make sure everyone was safe. I was planning to attend that night anyway. But, I told him that my family was no where close to NYC anyway that day, and we were all fine. I just couldn't see what the big deal was about getting everyone together. To me, it was one more tactic of capitalizing on people's fears.

*Book Study. But we all know what BS really stands for.

I know of one sadass that did exactly that

If anything, 9/11 made me stop going.

I felt that the society would use the day to capitolize on human suffering, and I was right. It certainly didn't make me want to go back to the JWs. Instead I went and donated blood that week.

    No.

I immediately thought though: this is going to fill the Kingdom Halls and churches this week.

Sad and unfortunate, that event of nearly 2 years ago.

But NO, it did not make me think of going back to the Kingdom Hall.

I was still going to the KH at the time but I was on vacation when 911 hit. We did not seek out a KH near us for safety. I have always figured that the end would not come when JWs think it will because of these scriptures (NWT)

    Matthew 24:43-44

44 On this account YOU too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think to be it, the Son of man is coming.

    Luke 12:40

40 Y OU also, keep ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think likely the Son of man is coming."

So if the majority of the JWs thought there was something going to happen, then it wasn't going to since they thought it was likely.

    No.

I've read and heard of lots of tragic events in my lifetime. Every time someone says that this shows the end is near, they've been wrong.

So what would make 9/11 any different?

Only the players are different. People inflict tragedy on each other, and God does nothing. Same old story.

Just the opposite - 9/11 was right around the time I started fading.

There have been absolutely no events that ever had made me reconsider going back to the meetings.

I didn't think of returning to the KH for one second. I did wonder why I didn’t care to return the meetings. I was scared but, not of Armageddon. I was scared of more attacks.

I was 25 years old at the time. The attacks on 9/11/01 were the first world events that I could understand the major significance of. I actually looked to the Government for security. I felt comforted with the President at that time.

My in-active parents went to the meetings and tried to get me to follow but I didn’t.

I remember some of my non-active JW friends ran to the KH looking fore comfort. They still practiced their ungodly ways but attended the meetings 2-3 times per week.

They Ran back to the KH when the War broke out as well.

I went out and gave blood as well, for the first time. I since gave blood 3 more times.
