I thought this admirable young man deserved a mention in a Topic of its own, , especially as he has tabled three Amendments to a Bill going through Parliament, his amendments will tighten Mandatory Reporting, and stop J.W's avoiding doing so !

In his Speech, being an ex J.W., he highlighted the devious way the J.W's get out of Reporting abuse, and cover the whole thing up. He also called the J.W org. a Cult ! Bless him, tell it like it is !

The man seems intelligent and determined. His speech was very well prepared and covered all the bases. He seems to have put the work in and it was noticeable that the few members in the house at the time were really paying attention. He seems like a breath of fresh air both for our interests and as a fresh voice, not just repeating current clichés. I think he may go far

i see he just scraped in to the government with the tiniest majority--on the wave of labour hysteria..so i doubt he will have a long career .

In an interview with The Times, Carling described himself as a member of the LGBT community.[7]

So we can suppose he is no longer a JW.

Phizzy : [Sam Carling] also called the J.W org. a Cult

Just on a point of order, it was Cameron Thomas, Liberal Democrat MP for Tewkesbury, who referred to the "Jehovah's Witnesses cult", not Sam Carling.

However, Sam Carling was raised in a JW household and did talk about JWs in his speeches on the Crime and Policing Bill on March 10 (reported here) and on June 17 (reported here) where he spoke on the issue of mandatory reporting child sexual offences.
