A question for writers.

I have a question for all the creative writers out there. If I'm writing a book, can I quote anyone that I want, as long as I give them credit?

For instance, I want to quote Mark Twain, imitating Rocky, quoting Donald Trump. ( Not really..) Can I quote whomever I want, provided I cite the source in the back of the book?

I've read some conflicting information, but then I see the WTBTS never citing their sources...

Yes, you can quote anybody you want. But you have to credit them.

Provide a reference and source and you are good to go :)

Don't take my word for it but I think that a limited amount of credited quoting is permitted under 'fair use'.

I have another question. Are there any free versions of Writing Software that you are aware of, or prefer? I just purchased a computer.....again....and I need to switch from I-phone ( SUCK!!! ) to keyboard. OMG! I cant tell you how great a keyboard is!
