Do you prefer rules and boundaries, or the unknown adventure?

I was thinking of the religious persuasion to 'know the rules' and attempt to stay 'guaranteed' by one's own efforts - as opposed to embracing adventure and the autonomy of decision making - enjoying what is unknown, because it is.
Do you think your preference influences religiosity ?
