Jehovah's Witnesses planning large conference center
The Jehovah's Witnesses religious order wants to build a large conference center off Route 17K and Route 300 in the Town of Newburgh.
Town Supervisor George Bucci said the facility is proposed for construction behind the Newburgh Auto Park. He said the proposal is to build a conference center and hotel which would be used several times per month and expect a "huge turn out." Bucci said officials have told the town planning board that the hotels and restaurants in the area would be full the days they hold the conferences and Stewart Airport and surface transportation would get a lot of use.
The proposal is now before the planning board for its review.
