Any creature in any universe would always come to the conclusion that their universe was perfectly designed for them ... the reality is that of course a creature evolves to suit the environment. Is it really a surprise that fish didn't evolve in trees first?

Taking sizes of things that are purely coincidental is meaningless - would it be equally meaningful if the moon was half it's size and or if it's shadow exactly covered the US landmass at certain times? Superstitious people point to anything and everything to prove their authority from the imaginary man in the sky. We assume we're cleverer that people hundreds or thousands of years ago but people fall for the same stuff, it just now get's dressed up to include some "science" and has an infographic.

yeah, for us, it could not have turned out any other way, given all the restraints along our development. It will be great to see what unique conditions prevail in other worlds, when our detection becomes fine enough, like closer planets to smaller stars.

Isn't there a bit in one of Douglas Adams' books about a sentient mud puddle who just can't get over the fact that it came to exist in a hole that just happens to be of exactly the right size and shape to contain it?

The fish typically live in pools of water made by the roots of mangrove trees. When those pools dry up, however, the fish “flop their way” into rotten branches, using tunnels dug out by insects. Three details make the killifish discovery particularly interesting. The first is that the fish apparently alter the biological make up in their gills to allow them to essentially breathe air. Their gills retain water and nutrients and excrete nitrogen while they’re in the trees. The next is that the fish which are normally tenaciously territorial over their pools lose their aggressive ways and live peacefully, jam-packed together inside the rotten branches. Finally, while living in the trees the mangrove killifish give up their devotion to a humanistic branch of Catholicism and convert to devoutly Orthodox Judaism, complete with the hats and the curls. One Saturday, they’re blogging about modern life in a mangrove cesspool. The next, they won’t even answer a telephone…Amazing!

are you not wrongly limiting "scientific" to the sci-establishment? great seminal work has been done by those unimpeded by the burden of past scientific teachings. Patterns recurring in seemingly unrelated fields can lead to insights into underlying hidden relationships. valid work done by amateurs does not suddenly shift to "scientific" when it receives the imprimatur of some institution. of course, the establishment fighting tooth and nail against crackpot ideas has a cleansing effect, but real, revolutionary, progress in science has often come from non-establishment work. but: Insight into the deeper workings of a system often comes by studying where reality deviates from the predicted pattern.so: finding patterns matters. PS: In the solar system we are embedded in a complex pattern of resonances, appearing in regular number sequences, patterns that made it possible to remain stable long enough for us to contemplate it. or as a visible clue to allow a gossamer structure like the rings of Saturn to persist.
