"holding the anointed elders in his right hand"

(ks10 p11:1) Revelation 1:20 depicts Jesus as holding the anointed elders in his right hand, thus, by extension, indicating that he controls all bodies of elders for the purpose of accomplishing Jehovah’s will. (re pp. 28-29, 136)

In the Shepherding book it says "holding the anointed elders in his right hand". I never noticed before the "anointed" qualifier.
But... Of course they throw in that "by extension" it applies to all BOE's.
I bring this out because I got called into a back-room counselling session where I was confronted with the accusation that I'm quoting a scripture (1 John 5:1) that only applies to the "anointed" and applying it to the "JW-other sheep".

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born from God." (1 John 5:1, rNWT)

It seems that the WT is the only one who is free to make NT verses apply to anyone other than the "anointed" (in Greek "anointed" = "Christ").
So... If you quote and apply a scripture to the "JW-other sheep" there better be some sort of specific application in print by the WT or you're going beyond what's written, causing divisions, and turning apostate.

These filthy-lucre-loving Governing Body hypocrites want to make sure that everyone knows they're the "Anointed" (Christs) and teach the New Testament was written only for their benefit, and it is only by extension, that is, when it's to their profit that they allow the scriptures to apply to the JW-other sheep, Rank & File followers.

I'm so sick of this F'ing cult!

Yep it's all for them except when they need us as slaves then by extension we are supposed to do it too. In the last meeting I had with the elders it became clear to me that when they can't defend thier teachings or the bible clearly says something else they use the , it only applies to the anointed excuse. The whole religion is a joke!!!

  • berrygerry

It is the fundamental doctrine of the religion - the Bible was written only for the anointed, and therefore Jesus is only their mediator.

Funny, then, that that is not in the Bible Teach book.

  • DesirousOfChange

Maybe you could use the "type & antitype" scenario.

    Oops! Forgot............that is OLD LITE.

Don't worry. It will change again.

I used to rationalize that since the Bible was written for the anointed according to the Watchtower and I was just considered "other sheep" it wasn't my responsibility to go from door to door - it was the anointed who were commanded to preach.

With their logic they could just as easily say that the faithful and discreet slave is made up of anointed men and by extension, this also includes those of the other sheep.

  • Wayward

The idea that the Bible is only for the anointed (the Governing Body these days now that the rest of the anointed are ignored) isn't much different from the old Catholic teaching that the Bible was only for the priests to interpret.

"Holding the elders in his right hand"....

Since the GB are dicks it sounds a little masturbatery (is that even a word?) of them to claim to be in Jesus right hand. Anyway, eeww.

My “elder” brother also insisted that he and his fellow elders were stars in Jesus’ right hand. They better watch out. Not sure what the current interpretation of the following scriptures are, but at some stage some of the stars are going to be thrown to the ground and trampled, and the holy ones ‘dashed to pieces.’

10 And it kept getting greater all the way to the army of the heavens, so that it caused some of the army and some of the stars to fall to the earth, and it went trampling them down.

11 And all the way to the Prince of the army it put on great airs, and from him the constant [feature] was taken away, and the established place of his sanctuary was thrown down (Dan. 8:10, 11 NWT).

7 And I began to hear the man clothed with the linen, who was up above the waters of the stream, as he proceeded to raise his right [hand] and his left [hand] to the heavens and to swear by the One who is alive for time indefinite, It will be for an appointed time, appointed times and a half. And as soon as there will have been a finishing of the dashing of the power of the holy people to pieces, all these things will come to their finish (Dan. 12:7 NWT).

So, one should be careful what you wish for. Similarly the GB, insisting they are the fds, must watch out. If that slave goes bad, the fate of that slave is disastrous (cf. Matt. 24:45-51).

The illustrations in JW publications showing the Anointed in heaven as all having beards ,so I guess that`s something the Anointed sisters can look forward to .

I always wondered how the Anointed , male or female never had a part in congregational matters , yet they will rule with J.C.in heaven .
