  This dog looks almost exactly like the dog Daisy I used to have about a gener-
  ation ago. You'd think the coloring would be random but it's exactly the same
  yet it's from California on the other side of the country. I think you mix two
  hybrids that each typically have a look and that's what you get.

  I think it may be a cross between an Airdale Terrier for somewhat the same coloring

  Jack Russell Terrier? I think the JR terrier has a closer shape.

  I'm certainly no dog expert but I'm interested in dog breeds.

  Yes, 'Penelope' looks very Jack Russell to me - the v-shaped drop ears, facial proportions and rough coat. JRs do vary quite a bit in type, though.

  As for the black/tan colouring, this is a popular colouring for terriers, I think.

  Even German Shepherd Dogs have tan or fawn with a black saddle. JR colouring is mostly white, with patches of black or black & tan on the head and at the base of the tail - as your last video shows.

  Maybe you could talk with your Vet about IF DNA testing might clarify this.

  Terriers are such loving dogs; my neighbours, growing up, had a Scottie (very similar to one of your pics). Can you post a pic of your dog? I learned from friends, that my cat was a short tail Japanese breed. Her tail was only a few inches long, not severed by humans, and she was calico.. Perhaps a photo would help, if anyone has more expertise. xx

  She died in '97. I can see the (Parson?) Jack Russell Terrier aspect but
  something gives it more fur and that coloring.

  She was a very loving pup. I remember her hugging her face to mine and feeling
  the water from her eyes.
