    Ok, so another favourite female protagonist of mine is Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver. She just about overcame the xenomorph in Ridley Scott's Alien (1979). And she spent most of James Cameron's Aliens (1986) getting over her trauma.

    Here's some nice footage of Newt calling Ripley 'mommy' ...

    That was a touching scene. She could be the mommy and the slaughtering machine of aliens all in a single scene. If WTC recruits her to play the role of a GB wife standing by her man in prison, the whole religion might resurge to greatness once again. Or maybe not.

    On a related note…

    …how often has a filmmaker made a superior sequel to another filmmaker’s already awesome first film?

    You could probably count the number of times that’s happened on one hand.

    Those 2 were both great films. It was such a shame that Newt's story didn't continue in the third one. David Fincher, the director of the 3rd one, hates that film with passion and doesn't even want to talk about it.

    @Vidiot - not very often.

    The Godfather (1972) - The Godfather Part II (1974)

    A New Hope (1977) - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

    Alien (1979) - Aliens (1986)

    The Terminator (1984) - Terminator 2 Judgment Day (1991)

    ^^^ Although with the latter two examples I actually think the first films are better.

    T2 doesn’t count, sorry.

    Cameron made both.

    Blade II qualifies, IMO.

    Okay…

    …there’s, like, four different threads about this, all started by LoveUni…

    …WTF?
