For My Distant Love

O' how precious the moment we shared not so long ago.

Together we caught the rain, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.

It was so wonderful, so right, that you and I be together.

But duty called. O' how I wanted to stay with you forever.

The wind tossed your golden tresses the day I left.

You were standing there so beautiful yet so bereft.

That was the saddest of days, the day I had to depart.

For that which is beyond control would keep us apart.

Though I am home in that golden land in the west,

I think of you always, my love, daughter of the east.

My love, a woman so beautiful, and the woman I most adore.

I will count the days till I return and hold you once more.
