Gutted to hear this. Spent countless hours listening to his music... I'm sure some here will appreciate his contribution.

I idolised Matt Cameron throughout my teenage years, Cornell's distinct voice smothers some of my favourite music....

    Sad news indeed.

I believe his family or management said it was sudden and unexpected. He was touring with Soundgarden..... I thought maybe suicide, but that's pure speculation. He tweeted just hours before.

Really sad. Just read it on the BBC website. Audioslave was one of my favourite bands in my teens.

Loved his voice. Some of my favorite music of all time. The best live show I ever saw was Audioslave in San Francisco.

    Damnit.

Tragic. He was an amazing talent. R.I.P

Here he is singing the soundtrack (one of the best, if not the best Bond soundtrack) to the film: Casino Royale

I also saw Audiosalve play, they were incredible... the only time I've seen Cornell.

I've watched some of the last show Soundgarden played at Detroit, what a set list.... heaps of footage online. Such an epic band.

The very last song they played - Slaves and Bulldozers, included a section of the gospel song 'In my time of dying'..... Chris was found dead hours later.

I think his death has been ruled suicide. I know he had struggled with drug and alcohol addictions throughout his career..... still shocked to hear it. He was an amazing talent and gifted songwriter.

My god, did I bang my head to Soundgarden in the roaring 90's. So sad to read he hung himself at a Detroit hotel room, just hours after Soundgarden's gig. Thank you Chris for your amazing voice and music!
