Just keeping my fellow pagans updated.

    February 9, 2003

Sunday - the day of the sun god... Helios, Apollo, Ogmios, Mithras... or the sun Goddess, Phoebe

    Feast of Apollo

This is the feast day of Apollo, the god of the sun, which celebrates the increasing light of

the new year after the darkness of midwinter. Apollo is also the god of archery,

agriculture, animal husbandry, crops, cattle, farmers, shepherds, sheep, poetry, medicine,

    prophesy and ethics.

The sun is important. Do pagans do some kind of light ceremony, or something?

It is often in the vein of agriculture. Such as Beltane, Ostara (easter), and midsummer. While there seems to be more reverence given to the moon and lunar cycles the sun is still important. It is often seen as the God aspect.

    Ummm...isn't Sunday Feb the 8th?

I also thought the 11 and 12th of Feb were the Feast of The Divine Twins...Apollo and Diana, but I'm no pagan...

    Sincerely,
