    Sending Secure Tips

The software and techniques described on this page represent the best publicly-available security measures on the Net. They're all effective, and offer high security. But no system is 100% secure.

While we can't promise that every idea will become a segment for broadcast, senior staff will carefully review everything we receive. We'll be in touch if there's significant interest. This process often takes months, so please don't be alarmed if you don't get an immediate response.

the fifth estate uses an encryption program called PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) to keep e-mail secure. If you are in Canada or the U.S., you can download a
    copy from MIT
    .

If you are outside of Canada or the U.S., you should use the international version of PGP. The International PGP Home Page will tell you where to get it.

Once you've downloaded PGP, just print out and follow these instructions for DOS/Windows users, or these instructions for Macintosh users.

This is our PGP public key. When you use it to encrypt a message, you ensure that no one but the fifth estate will be able to read it.

For more information on how this all works, read the PGP Frequently-Asked
    Questions list
. It's a helpful, easy-to-read introduction to encryption and PGP.

If you must keep your identity private, you can send your message through one (or several) of these anonymous re-mailers.

And finally, if security isn't an issue for you, you can send your message right here and now: [email protected]

Thanks Expit - I've contacted them to let them know how wonderful this story was - and to ask that they run a few "reruns" so that anyone who didn't get a chance to see it will see it again!

    Here's the e-mail I just sent:

Thank you very much for this very informative expose about child sexual abuse within the Jehovah's Witnesses.

I hope that every child who has ever been abused by members of this religious group has the opportunity to see this program, to help them realize that they are not just an "isolated case", and to help them find the inner strength to bring their abusers AND those who protect them to justice. I hope that every parent who viewed "Spiritual Shepherds" will tell Jehovah's Witnesses who come to their doors that they no longer welcome the visits of people who shelter child molesters and child rapists, and try to punish and silence the victims of these monsters.

To the Jehovah's Witnesses, who fear these crimes and proper police intervention will "bring reproach on Jehovah", I have to wonder how finding justice and seeking protection from sexual predators is more reproachful to God than the despicable crimes of pedophiles who rob trusting beloved children of their innocence. Who is really the cause for reproach - the victims?? or the child molesters themselves??

Congratulations to everyone who participated in making this program a reality. The Fifth Estate deserves an award for this outstanding piece of brutally honest journalism.

    Sincerely,

    [Scully]
