which the Society says has already taken place, the apostle Paul says at 2 Timothy 2:17-18, New World Translation, that:

"[t]hese very men [Hymenaeus and Philetus and including the Society which teaches what these two men did] have deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already occurred...."

Paul says their words will spread like 'gangrene.' Hasn't that happened? So, who are the real apostates and deviates?

    Excellent point!

In case you weren't aware, it was a primary doctrine of the Watchtower Society that "the resurrection of the saints" began in 1881(?), and this was not discarded until 1927. Therefore by the Bible's standards, and even their own teachings (cf. W86 4/1 30-31) Watchtower leaders stand condemned as apostates at least until 1927. Today they teach that "the resurrection of the saints" began in 1914 (or is it 1919?) and continues today. Since the only "proof" of this is their own claim to speak by divine authority, it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that they're still apostates -- by their own definition.

Yes in a late 1980's Wt arcticle the Wt talks about Hymenaeus and states that even though He may have taught the truth on other things he was still an apostate because he only got the resurrection date wrong!! The proclaimers book mentions 1878 as a date taught by the Wt for the resuurection.

Someone should post the 1980's quote here, its a duesy
