There's often a dissociative effect that takes place. The trauma shocks the psyche so immensely causing an aspect of the person to dissociate from the body in order to survive the abuse as it's happening. In that moment, there is no moving as much as one would like to run.

There are so many scriptures that cancel each other out not to mention the ideas that people like Geofrey Jackson hold as their 'personal' feelings on the matter. I know when I was walking home in the dark late from work a guy jumped out from a bush beside me (I think he was taking a leak) I was terrified, I tried to scream but no sound came out, my voicebox constricted (he did scream!)
