So for those two years supposedly they have operated at a deficit.

How does the WT remain viable? How does the WT spend millions "teaching"?

Those figures are just "funny" in a weird way.

Did you notice the following under income: other 405 490

This is not asset disposal (fixed) as it is listed elsewhere. This is also not interest, so this is investment income:

At 10% growth for the year it would mean the lump sum is 5 000 000.

    At 5% growth that would mean a 10 000 000 lump sum.

The investment return for a balanced managed fund is about 7.4% according to the Australian ASX exchange long term investing report, so the Australian Watchtower has about 7 400 000 in investments.

The information is from the ACNC website and it is a requirement for the Head Office to report their financials whereas all the Australian congregations are registered individually here but are not required to report financials.

Oppostate, they are only in deficit because they sent half their money overseas, most of it probably to HQ as per Coalize's comment.

Dividing 19,611,866 in donations by the number of JWs currently in Australia 66,484 comes to $295. This means that the average yearly donation per JW is $295. This does not include the amount they donate to their local congregation for operating expenses.

    Hmmm.

How about this for a conspiracy theory....

In countries for which the accounting is part of public record, and thus visible to all, the strategy is to donate enough money to Brooklyn such that a deficit is achieved. Thus making the WTS branch look like a less viable target for lawsuits, and also reinforcing in the mind of any JW who happens to chance upon the report, "wow, a deficit! These guys really DO need my contributions!"

Meanwhile, in the USA, the destination of said "donations" from other lands, the accounting is top secret and no one outside of Bethel accounting and the IRS knows anything about it.
