What are you up to this summer?

Xanthippe, I just finished traveling in Panama for two weeks researching possible retirement options. I had great fun meeting people through Air Bnb. Now I'm in Guatemala visiting my six-month old grandson, daughter and son-in-law. We're headed to Antigua this weekend. Mr. Sail Away is home happily teaching sailing all summer. He's not big on travel. Now that I'm liberated from the confines of JWdom, I am enjoying traveling on my own. I no longer feel the need to be The Good JW wife, staying home waiting for hubby.

In July I have a high school friend coming to visit from out of state. We are attending our high school reunion together. She wants to go to the casino, gamble a bit and see a paranormal-type show there. That will be good for another notch on my 50 Ways to Leave Your Cult list.

In August I have tai chi camp and plan to visit my son in Annapolis, MD for a few days on the way home. He has wanted to take me to Assateague Island National Seashore for years.

Hope you enjoy your visit with your daughter-- family time is the best!

Since you asked: I'm currently at a two week conference for science teachers being held at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. It's intense, but really amazing at the same time. We are focusing on helping students construct their own understanding by building progressive models of the fundamental particles of matter .... but I digress.

At the end of July, my wife and I will be spending a couple of weeks on the east Coast of the US visiting family. I'm really looking forward to that as well!

Yes it's winter down here. I'm using the indoor weather to get a THR (total hip replacement) due to an old motorcycle accident. Recoup through the end of this season and then bring on summer! Oh to go hiking again and use my hammock(s).

July 29th is my fifteenth wedding anniversary, we are going to Eureka (northern Califoria coast) and staying at a bed and breakfast. It's been busy summer, so a few days by the ocean is something to look forward to.

Fossil hunting really? Where do you go? How interesting.
I've been to Yaxley clay pits, near Peterborough - found some ammonites, belemnites, gryphaea, and another type of bivalve. Next up is King's Dyke (just waiting for an access permit), then I'll probably try and take a look at Hunstanton. There are sites all over the UK, but those are the ones nearest to me.

Not a lot. Short of money. Live at home with an adult son that has no money all the time. All my money goes on bills with nothing left for treats or holidays.

I'm trapped. Nowhere to go apart from sit in the garden and get depressed.

So, don't feel too bad xant.
