The author's comments also negate the WTS's arguments that the flag is an idol and pledging or saluting is idolatry. As the author indicates, such "can" occur, but this would be misapplication on an individual basis._________
He also negates the WTS's argument that
pledging or saluting demonstrates allegiance to the government in opposition to God. As he indicates, a person can have allegiance to more than one party, and NOONE (except JWs) thinks that someone pledging or saluting the flag is making an "either-or" choice between God and the government.
