Jehovah's Witnesses had an assembly in Waco this weekend. The story is at:

Scroll down for article entitled "Jehovah's Witnesses share faith in Waco" In a segment on page 1 "Views of Waco," photo 3 is a view of a young girl being baptized

I sure hope they don't barricade themselves inside and then burn the place down!!! Waco certainly does not need anymore of that kind of attention!

What I am finding suspect, is that after decades of virtually being ignored by these small time bastions of the media, since the news of Silentlambs and the peodophile cover-ups have been brought to light, we are suddenly seeing many pro-JW articles appearing in small newspapers.

I haven't seen one yet mention they are currently embroiled in a battle that rivals that of the Catholic Church. Why I find it suspect is that usually, these papers get their articles from recommendations of someone calling them and asking them to cover an event. Is it possible that local COs and DOs are requesting these articles to offset the bad publicity their continued cover-up is causing?

I also wonder why the major papers aren't publishing these stories praising the Witnesses?

I wrote this to the editor of the Waco Tribune..

Dear Editor...I recently saw your article on Jehovahs Witness. You made note of ways in which they effect your community. I would like you to please take note of some ways in which they may effect your community, albeit ones they would not like you to know about. Both the producers of NBC's Dateline and the British equivalent Panorama, have found it important to expose the fact that Jehovahs Witness ,and their Watchtower bible & tract Society of New York, cover up pedophelia in many congregations. They acknowledge they have a pedophile database, but refuse to hand over any evidence to the authorities. What does this mean for you? Simply put, your town, for however long, will be a nexus point for a whole organization of people who 1. Will not admit they have a problem dealing with pedophiles. 2. Will not tell their own congregation when a pedophile is in their midst. 3. Will allow pedophiles to go door to door, soliciting their extreme brand of Christianity. The third point has the most significance to your community. Do you want possible pedophiles knocking on your door some Saturday, when you're still asleep and the kids get up early for cartoons and cereal? There is a knock on the door and your child answers....Well, you figure out the rest. I would urge the people of Waco to consider this when they are a major presence in your community and ask them for proof against my remarks. For further information please see www.silentlambs.org. By the way, the gentleman who runs that site has been kicked out of their religion for trying to protect the children from pedophiles in the Jehovahs Witness church. Are those the kind of folks you want invading your town?

    Sincerely,

    Travis Bush

I thought you would be interested to know on the Thursday before the convention, Kandace Kelly a news reporter with CBS Channel 10 lambasted them on the abuse issue. The DO and the Convention Overseer came in for an interview and thereafter did a telephone interview with me. As you can guess when asked about the abuse issue the DO pulled out a written testimonial, that stated in part, "We abhor child molestation and will not tolerate anyone who practices such things. For further information go to our website, otherwise we have no comment."

When Kandace asked me how I respond to that I said, "I abhor onions and will not tolerate them in my food, but that does not do diddly squat to addressing the real issue of protecting children from pedophiles in the Jehovah's Witness community."

They also stated there was nothing on the program that related to recent media coverage on child abuse. I was able to counter that with what was stated on Friday in the Deception talk, as well as the twisted application of the Jeremiah drama to the media. It appears the "brothers" told a fib.

So though they may have gotten a "nice" newspaper story but they were slaughtered by the television news on Thursday.

Just thought you would want to know.

    Thanks Kenneson for the info.

Travis, very well put, I hope you don't mind if I steal a few of your sentences to write letters to the press. LOL

I really feel a great need to have my say in this, I can go public now,, since I will be d/a as of next Thursday. I plan on starting my first letter for my local newpaper, so I better study up on my grammar and sentence structure.

Bill, I love what you said to Kandance, that really drives the point home of their evasiveness when asked a simple question.

Is it just me or does the statement, "No comment", make you think of someone who is hiding something, afraid to say anything that may trap them. Instead by saying ,"No comment", they know the less they say , the better, because no matter what they say,,,,,,,,, the foot is in the mouth.
