This is Lopez attorney Zalkin's opening statement - It states, " As Socorro ( victim Lopez's mother ) feared , the elders took no action in 1986. Campos was not restricted or expelled. The congregation was not warned. The body of elders in charge of Campos had the knowledge and power to stop him from hurting children, and they didn't. They were more concerned about avoiding scandal than they were about protecting children . Their conduct was irresponsible and reprehensible. "

Interesting recording of a Watchtower radio program now in the public domain on Vandalism. Somehow the Jehovah's Witness principle on protecting the community from Vandalism, doesn't carry forward with the same weight in protecting the community from molesters.

    On Vandalism -

'Parents have the responsibility to protect the community from their children.'

So while 'Parents have the responsibility to protect the community from their children.'

The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses doesn't have any responsibility to protect the community from their inhouse molesters.
Then, it's 'confidential speech', which trumps protecting the community; 'they should not try to ferret out all the details. Those are confidential and ought to be kept as such.'
