Last Saturday I was in Sydney at Townhall Station and the Dubs were set up at their usual stand just between the Station and the Queen Victoria Building, underground. I was in the vicinity again today at the same time and decided I might count my time and take some pics of them. They didn't turn up! Here is a photo I took of the spot where they would normally set up shop:

The spot to the right of the column near the left of the picture is where the table would be, and a rack of mags and books would be on a rack leaning against the column.

Anyone had any experience of this kind of field service? How does it compare to the door-knocking kind?

The place is clean!!! (or maybe the JWs decided to clean the walkway as part of their "sacred service"?)

BTW, I used to do street witnessing, which consisted of walking up and down local streets trying to speak to those who hadn't seen us in time and hadn't managed to cross the road. But I never did witnessing from a stand in a public place (no where to hide - at least when you're street witnessing you can pretend you're window-shopping if you dont want to look like a JW).

    Wow that is EERIE man!

So thats the very spot they stand at huh? I can sort of sense the dark residual energy from them, even across the computer screen. Wierd. You going to go back and take shots next week? Bet youre planning to, if I know you.

Could they have been at a DC or CA?

Being a Saturday, they could have been at a CA, but there aren't any DAs until later this year.

Remember to hit hit the ball and not the man, eh? Those "missing" guys are former good friends.

That's good to know, Ozzie - you'll be able to provide names to go with the faces.

Besides, my real point was something they had on their rack last week which leapt out at me. When everyone here sees it, they'll know why it was so important for me to showcase it.

    Townhall Station staff, you mean!

I've often wondered if there's a harrassment aspect to it, but people walking through are either on their way to or from work or busy finding lunch on their lunchbreak - I can't imagine them taking valuable time out to hassle Dubs. I've never seen anyone even talking to them, and I'm there quite often!

Here's an idea: why don't you set up a table adjacent to theirs? Put up a big banner which reads http://www.jehovahs-witness.com or http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com and hand out "apostate" literature!

When they give you the evil eye, look all innocent-like and say

"Whaaaaaat? I'm just practising my constitutionally guranteed freedom of relgious expression. BTW, thank you for helping to cement the law which allows me to be here. Hey, would you like a pamphlet? Have you even wondered about a world without false-hopes and guilt-trips? Would you be interested in studying with us?"

    LOL @ Quotes

It'd be great to throw their own hard won "freedoms" in their faces like that.

Actually there have been other religions handing out their literature in the same area (usually about the spot where I stood to take the pic) - usually New-Agers of some description. The Dubs are incredibly consistent and are almost always there during normal business hours. I've decided to have another crack at this tomorrow. Don't worry, Ozzie, I'll be very discreet!
