For Awhile (poem)

    I'm so lonely at night
If not for my dogs, warm waterbed,
    the nightlight....
Well I try not to cry
I rock back and forth and
    hugging my pillow,
I try to kiss the darkness good-bye

    But then
    Walking around I find me
    hearing myself echo
    Heaviness inside
    I'm weary of distractions:
    movies, internet and the radio

    But,

It's only 2 hours to sunrise
    There'll be some warmth again
and I'll avoid the void that is night time

    For awhile.

Why is it so cold when you need warmth the most?
(You'll find I answer my own questions)
    Hopes that get moldy and
    need some shining up
    I'm an electrical cord.....
    unplugged

Is it asking too much for
    someone special to hold me?
I'm not asking for too much......
    I'm not.

    When will this lonliness subside?
When will this heaviness go? Sunrise......

    For awhile.

I like your poem ! Rather than starting a new Thread.. I will post one of mine. I named it

Child of Rue.. ( as in you RUE the day).

When life started out/ no one loved you. Abandoned/ you thought you were alone.
Afraid of life' storms around you / left without a home.
Child of Rue~ I loved you/ when no one else would / Saw the shame inside you / Of things that had you bound./ Blinding you to what was to be found./ By your side,
I was through it all/ You heard my gentle call./ Searching... through the cold street nights./ You'd journeyed to the true light./Love has released the past.. Child of Rue/ you have become free at last./No longer the outcast/ love has filled you up/ light has chased the dark. / No longer to be rued you see. At last you are truely free .
