We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does his will, he listens to this one.
So am I to assume the warning is that "God does not listen to sinners"? Of course, Jesus is not being quoted here, but a man whom he healed. The CONTEXT is that of asking for a miraculous healing.If this scripture were to be taken out of context -- God wouldn't listen to anybody, we're all sinners. Or if you mean those who are on a course of sinfulness, that still doesn't make sense. Because Jesus spent the majority of his life "listening to" and ministering to known sinners, such as tax collectors and harlots.
So why is the board being warned? Can anyone unravel this unsolved mystery?

The blind man whose sight is now restored is upholding Jesus' position, that of being from God, which the Pharisees were denying. Jesus is not merely a representative of God like John the Baptist was; Jesus is from God, because he was originally with God in heaven. See John 1:18, John 3:31 and John 6:38
