Lazy JW's Should Be DF'd .

    This is a serious post!

I'm arguing elsewhere that disfellowshipping today bears no resemblance to how the apostles disciplined their dissident members. The JW's often quote from 2 Thessalonians 3: 6-15 to support their argument for shunning. However, careful perusal of these scriptures indicate that simply being idle, not working enough to earn one's keep when one is able, is a reason for shunning too:

:6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us. 3:7 For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn't behave ourselves rebelliously among you, 3:8 neither did we eat bread from anyone's hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you; 3:9 not because we don't have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us. 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone will not work, neither let him eat." 3:11 For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don't work at all, but are busybodies. 3:12 Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

3:13 But you, brothers, don't be weary in doing well. 3:14 If any man doesn't obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed. 3:15 Don't count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

That last word about not keeping company with rebellious one's but also not to count him as an enemy is interesting, eh?

Oh Eman, have you hit on something here!

Just think about this, the apostle Paul, no less, was saying that if some were not obedient to their (the apostle's) words, then they should be DFed? ....... no, they should be "marked".

Now the WTS says that "marking" is something LESS than Dfing. So, on this basis, rebellion to the apostles is viewed as less than other DFing "crimes". It doesn't make sense, does it?

"Hoisted on their own petard", perhaps?

    Cheers, Ozzie

Oh Ozzie, that's because the Governing Bosy if GREATER, GREATER I say, then the Apostle Paul! Geez, do I have to tell you everything?

There is another scripture about busybodies that puts them on the same level as murderers. Wish they read that one more often.

    Hello Englishman,

thanks for the fine point! The Scriptures are quite clear...but

we know the the WBTS Inc., feels superior to anyone one and

everybody on this planet. Because " to them ..."

it has been granted to understand 'God's secrets' and

"to them.." Jehovah and Jesus are revealing things. Yes, they

are even " tipped ahead of time " concerning future events!

Now we can rest ...they are looking after our own interests...

I do mean the WBTS Inc. and all the other worldwide

    connected corporations.

    Greetings, J.C.MacHislopp
