"But he spoke this illustration also to some who trusted in
themselves that they were righteous and who considered the rest as nothing" Luke 18:9
Who are the rest to the Watchtower?
"worldly people"? The 99.9% of humans who live on earth who
will die at Armageddon? The people pictured in graphic illustrations
as being crushed by falling rubble? Are they the ones casually
deemed as a waste of money for charity because they're all gonna
die anyway, if they don't become Witnesses? Is their conversion
sought by Witnesses to avoid their own slaughter by God?
Are they next door neighbors, workmates, or friends at school
who are identified as targets for conversion in the Kingdom
Ministry - or face destruction? How about loving non-Witness
relatives and marriage mates - are they 'birdseed' too? (Rev.19:17)
The Pharisees of Jesus' day would cross dry land and sea to
make proselytes (Matt.23:15) - but still had an underlying
contempt for fellow men.
And the Watchtower leadership? What about them?
If it is wrong for a man to proclaim himself "Rabbi" or "Holy Father",
is it still wrong for two men - or a dozen - to do the same?(Matt.23:8)
What about a group of men who trumpet that they are "THE faithful
and discreet slave"? Do they "trust in themselves that they are
righteous"? If they are "THE faithful slave", does that mean that
THERE ARE NO OTHER FAITHFUL SLAVES? (just like THE God = the ONLY
true God?).
Once you open your eyes to this arrogance,
it changes you
and you can never view the Watchtower as you once did.
because "they trusted in themselves that they were righteous
and .. considered the rest as nothing."
