Dating When Ur Ready???

Now, we are suppose to wait until we feel like we want to get married before we date. But how would you know if u wanted to get married unless you dated someone first and fell in love with them? Although i am about to get married now, i wasn't ready before. And personally don't think i would have wanted to get married unless I went out with various people beforehand. What do you all think?
