    Judge Overrules Parents On Transfusion
Florida Law Allows Judges To Order Medical Procedures

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A circuit judge told Florida Hospital doctors Wednesday that they can give a premature baby a blood transfusion if needed despite religious objections from her parents, according to Local 6 News.

    Mike DeForest Reports

The baby’s parents, Arquelio and Caridad Soto are Jehovah’s Witnesses who believe that the Bible prohibits them from eating the blood of animals, Local 6 News reported.

The couple recently gave birth to a premature baby girl who needed a blood transfusion to survive, according to the report.

The Soto’s objected to the procedure because of their religious beliefs and said that Jehovah would take care of the child, Local 6 News report.

Circuit Judge Fred Lauten granted the petition Wednesday to allow the transfusion if it is needed to save the child's life.

Florida law allows judges to order a medical procedure if they feel it is necessary, according to the report.

Although the court granted hospital doctors the authority to give a blood transfusion, they are reportedly looking at other medical procedures that might help the child, Local 6 News reported.

The WTS took Stratton, Ohio to the Supreme Court of the United States to invoke the JW's constitutional right of freedom of speech.

Do the WTS feel that the Constitution was written for it alone?
If not, then I believe there is an Amendment dealing with "LIFE, liberty, or property," and "to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws..."

This baby has not "dedicated" her life to the WTS just because her parents have.
