lost something or someone you treasured on principal?

I was just thinking of my " Big Mac" as i eat my " Veggie Burger" which is yuggy...( but i could name more painful examples)

I love the metaphor, don't quite understand it but I love it. Did you lose your Big Mac on principal? In any event, I don't think I lost anyone on principal. If there were people I lost it was long before I had principles.

Well my thinking with the "O.P" is how easy it is too compromise our own ethical and moral standards for benifit. But to loose something you treasure or love on a principal is well easier said than done....
