Today I was purchasing something from Home Depot and went to the Commercial desk for a good, old fashioned paper receipt. Not this crap that fades in sunlight in 11 minutes. When I got to the Commercial desk a sign on the counter greeted me. It said, ' Back in 30 minutes'.
'BACK IN 30 MINUTES'
What is that supposed to mean. Though it makes a clear statement, it tells me nothing. 30 minutes from when? When they put the sign up? When I first read it? Much of what the society says makes a clear statement, but says nothing.
LISTEN, OBEY AND BE BLESSED. What exactly is that supposed to mean? Listen to who, obey what and be blessed how? Statements like this create illusions in peoples minds. It really means whatever the hearer imagines it to mean. When I saw my sign the only thing I could do was try to extrapolate from data that was available to me. It was 11:00 in the morning. Did they go for coffee? No, coffee is about 15 minutes and no manager would put up with an employee gone for 30 minutes. Lunch time? At 11:00? No. I could not come up with even an illusion of reality.
Do JW's come up with individual illusions that they create in their mind? Illusions that give meaning to statements made by the Society, but the are peculiar to each person that hears it?
Did you go out in [ out in always confused me] service this morning?
One walked the territory for 2 hours and answers yes. Another sat in a car while others did return visits and then went to the coffee shop and yakked about their camping trip to 40 minutes. They also answer, yes.
Both answered truthfully. One was clearly dillusional. However the one who walked the territory for 2 hours did not talk to one person but only knocked on the doors of empty houses. They were also dillusional.
