Palmetto man charged with battery while delivering religious magazines

PALMETTO -- A Palmetto man was charged with battery on a person over 65, according to the Palmetto Police Department.
Amalio Cabrera-Gonzalez, 77, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday at his apartment building. According to a report, Cabrera-Gonzalez was delivering "Watchtower" pamphlets, which are associated with Jehovah's Witnesses), in each door of his apartment building and left one on the victim's door. The 75-year-old victim heard her front door moving, opened it and confronted Cabrera-Gonzalez. She told him not to leave any more pamphlets at her door, according to a report.
Police said that Cabrera-Gonzalez continued on delivering pamphlets and was followed by the victim, who continued to confront him and tell him not to leave pamphlets in any other door. Cabrera-Gonzalez became upset and grabbed the victim by the right wrist with his left hand and raised his other hand in a threatening way. According to a report, he told the victim ,"I can hurt you!"
The victim was not hurt, according to a report.
Cabrera-Gonzalez was being held in Manatee County jail without bond, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's website.
