    Jehovah’s Witnesses-Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom:

    PAGES 174-175

"But among the Witnesses, there was never any question as to how homosexuality would be viewed."

    ________________________________________________

Since the Governing Body is God's channel of communication on Earth you'd certainly expect a definite

    pronouncement about this, wouldn't you?

Surely Jehovah knows and if Jehovah knows his "channel" would communicate this "food at the proper time."

Is there a way of testing this definite statement about "never any question"?

    Sure there is!

Let's look at the Watchtower record.

    _____________________________

Any telltale discrepency centers on denial that the VIEW of JW's officially was never a matter of question when it had TWICE resulted in reversal.

    __________________________

A question was submitted to the Society, which ruled in the January 1, 1972 Watchtower that homosexual acts

do not constitute ground for divorce:

"While both homsexuality and bestiality are disgusting perversions, in the

case of neither one is the marriage tie broken."

    (p. 32)

Nearly a year later the Society reversed itself and ruled in the December 15, 1972Watchtower that

homosexual acts do constitute ground for divorce, adding that:

"This clearly marks a correction in the view expressed on previous occasions in the columns of this magazine..."

(Sidebar: Has the WTS ever come out and so boldly drawn attention to a correction?)

    QUIZ

So the above statement on pages 174-175 of the Proclaimers book PAGES 174-175 about events 21 years previous:

"But among the Witnesses, there was never any question as to how homosexuality would be viewed."

    is . . . ?

    A. Repudiation of any valid claim about consistency

    B. Evidence of internal debate with one side winning against a previous side

    C. A mere technicality

    D. Absolute Lie

As the channel of God's communication the Society:

    A. Is Always Clear, precise, certain and truthful

    B. Wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the ass (they were pulling it out of.)

    How do you reply?

Hmm...me thinks the GB "protests too much" .

    C. A mere technicality.

Their view on homosexuality didn't really change (based on the info/quotes posted in the OP). What did change was stance on whether or not it was a scriptural ground for divorce. They have always regarded homosexuality as a serious sin.

Their view on homosexuality didn't really change . . .

    _____________________

    A. It is NOT a basis for divorce

    B. It IS a basis for divorce

The above is not a change of view?

Homosexuality either constitutes infidelity in regards to a marriage mate or it does not.

To hold the view the cheating spouse was NOT really doing anything to break their marriage vows simply because

the sexual activity was with a person of the same sex seems to me a bizarre POV by the GB.

How many have been DF'd for spending the night under the same roof with a person of the opposite sex EVEN THOUGH NO SEX took place?

At one time that was a DF-ing offense.

My point comes down to this:

Despots, Tyrants and Obscurantists use MORALITY to weild their power and control IN PLACE OF reasonable persuasion rationally argued.

The change of Watchtower POV says more about the whimsical and arbitrary source of GB "morality" than anything else.

    Your mileage may vary, however.

When the Society changed its view of what the "other sheep" were, they practically owned up to receiving a hallucination or divine blinding vision

    from heaven.

I assert what they were really doing is justifying a whimsical desire to INVENT out of thin air!

"The Things Revealed Belong to Us", The Watchtower , May 15, 1986, pages 10-15,

"In 1925 God’s earthly servants became possessors of an accurate understanding ... In 1932 their understanding was deepened still further. Jehovah revealed that the prophecies related ...to spiritual Israel, the Christian congregation. (Romans 2:28, 29) Then, in 1935 a corrected understanding of John’s vision of the “great crowd” in Revelation chapter 7 opened the eyes of anointed ones to the huge gathering work that still lay ahead of them."

This is obscurantism at its best!

Imagine walking into your spouses' closet and finding a bag filled with money. You ask where it came from and your spouse declares:

"I became the possessor of it."

Oh, well--if that's how you got it; never mind then!
