Perhaps the WTBTS does not want another case like claiming Alcyone is the center of the universe, where stands the throne of Jehovah.

Religions like the JW's that rely on the idea of a huge contest between Satan and God being played out on this Earth to decide the question of Sovereignty, which would only be a fair contest if no other life (E.T) existed, will have a problem if we ever make contact.
That all important question, supposedly solved for the Universe on Earth, will have been answered one way or the other wherever these E.T's come from, and confining Satan to the "vicinity of the earth" will get God a Red Card.
Oops ! thousands of years of human suffering,and it was all unnecessary.

It has been stated that due to the issue of universal sovereignty, it can be concluded that apart from spirit creatures, sentient life has not been created elsewhere in the universe.
