    I had such a
    fantastic sleep
    last night

    and it got me thinking
    about how much i've
    totally enjoyed being able to
    rest and recuperate
    since leaving the WTBTS.
    actually, i've been
    surprised to discover
    that SLEEP
    has been my
    single greatest pleasure
    since leaving.

    i was reminded
    of a conversation
    i had with an ex-military
    friend of mine
    not so long ago
and a comment he made with
    reference to "basic training"
    during his military days
    he explained to me
that part of the military's "programming"
    of new recruits
    in basic training
    definitely involves
    sleep deprivation
(as well as lotsa otha borg like qualities)

    today i linked that
    comment
    with how
    sleep deprived i've felt
    for years now.
    my previous "life"
    in the WTBTS
    DEFINITELY had me
    (and a lot of others)
    sleep deprived
    trying to keep up
    with all their
    rules & regs.
    (happy to say though
    that R&R has a new
    and far more enjoyable
    meaning for me now!)

    and for the first time
    ever....
    i'm seeing this as a
    "programming" thing.
    never before this
    moment
did i see it/them as "brainwashing"

    *whoa*

    lately i'm a postin' fool
    (but a well-rested postin' fool!)

    Spaz, you are not alone!!

Having to get up on Saturday and Sunday left no time for sleeping in.

When I went away to college, one of the best things was sleeping in on Saturday and Sundays.

If you cannot think clearly, you will believe things that you normally would not. It IS programming/brainwashing.

    puffs u 2 eh!?

    yes, not even just believe,
but accept, put up with, 'permit'.

i guess that means the sleepier i get
    the more 'permissive' i am.
that would 'splain a few things LOL

*yawn*stretch* time for another nap. :)

    SPAZnik & Puffs

We noticed a HUGE difference once we "slowed down" in our meeting attendance/service.

It seemed when we were active JWs, we were always always always in a RUSH. Getting up at 6am, not getting to bed until after 11pm, and always putting "Kingdom Interests First". We were always exhausted, always trying to cram too many activities into too little time.

The kids suffered too. Getting home from meetings at 10:30pm is way too late for a kid, especially once they're in school. My son's Grade 1 teacher once commented on how poorly rested he seemed on certain days of the week (she had started keeping notes) and they always were Wednesdays and Fridays - the days following our mid week meetings. He did worse on tests on those days, his homework was more likely to be poorly done (because he felt rushed so we could go to the meetings), and his attention span was decreased.

Now, life is good. We can sleep in on weekends if we want to, or go do some family activities, anything we want really.

When I was getting help with my postpartum depression several years ago, and just before we decided to leave the JWs, the counsellor asked me:

"If you were to die tomorrow, what would be your biggest regret? Missing out on doing fun things for yourself or with your children? or missing meetings at your church?"

All of a sudden, things clicked. My priorities were redefined. Instead of feeling worse and worse, like the WTS publications had me believing, it was like a burden was taken away.

Your experience is a great example on this.

    I like where you said:

All of a sudden, things clicked. My priorities were redefined. Instead of feeling worse and worse, like the WTS publications had me believing, it was like a burden was taken away.
I too had noticed a glaring discrepancy
between the teaching "my load is light"
and the realities of life as a dub.

    Ok, time for another nap

    yawnin'SPAZ (*rubs eyes sleepily)

(speakin' of mind control and rubbin',
i hereby dedicate this next nap to
    national masturbation month
of course LOL *shhhh, don't tell, heehee)

it's great to be dedicated LMAO
