Serena got her earliest exit at Wimbeldon. Still ranked #1.
For athletes at this level of play are the 30s where the wear and tear start showing. Seems with the French Open and now Wimbeldon there are a new young crop of top athletes beating the seasoned pros.
Serena exits Doubles at Wimbeldon, very strange. Her crew are calling it a virus infection.
She has peaked. Now she can pioneer and do sports commentary parttime.
Former Tennis champ Martina Navratilova didn't buy the 'virus' excuse.
The gossip mills are thinking Serena is pregnant and showing a early baby bump. Time will tell on that one, she probably would not opt to end the pregnancy with her religious leanings.
I'll comment only on the Tennis aspect:
There is a clear changing of the guard going on in women's tennis. But I would not count Serena out of any tournament, even though she's made three early Grand Slam exits this year.
That said, Eugenie Bouchard and Simona Halep bear watching. The women's game, right now, is as wide open as it's been in a long time.
There are also some signs, milder but signs nonetheless, that the Big Four's (Nadal, DJokovic, Federer, Murray) grip on the men's game might finally be eroding. But that will take time, especially as long as DJokovic and Nadal are around.
In a performance many say is on the level of the great Martina Navratilova new champion Petra Kvitova dominated in her win.
This is my thing. I want the world to be my stepkids oyster so that they can rise as high as their dreams take them, so they can be a Serena Williams if they want to. I mentioned them because they were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses. But as a Stepdad its not my call, and I can't push them to achieve. Only challenge them to rebel. If I can't be the spiritual leader, I must be a spiritual trickster to steal my wife's legacy (her passing down the JW religion) from her just like Jacob did to Esau in order to save them. There is a kind of trickery that is righteous.
