I thought this was so hillarious I just had to share it with you:

Reverend Jim Peasboro of Savannah GA has written a book "The Devil in the Machine: Is your computer possessed by a demon?" Some of the points raised in the book are:
* Any PC built after 1985 has the storage capacity to house an evil spirit
* "...most of the youths involved in school shootings like the tragedy at Columbine were computer buffs...I have no doubt that computer demons exerted an influence on them."
* an estimated "...one in 10 computers in America now houses
some type of evil spirit
AND LAST, BUT DEFINATELY NOT LEAST!!
* "Technicians can replace the hard drive and reinstall the software, getting rid of the wicked spirit permanently."

Being a network engineer I found this completely hysterical!!

Hi Dawn,

I just removed a demon from a friend's computer yesterday. It had a name, I think it was Habris Worm or something like that. I hate them demons. You get them from email but if you have a good demon checker it will warn you before you let it out of the box.

Hmmm, interesting. Based on that statement one could deduce the storage requirements of a demon through trial and error in configuring a possessed computer.

I wonder if anyone has done that yet. [8>]

I once went onto a new job and 'inherited' the computer of another
Engineer that had died. It kept 'asking for him' until I got some
extraneous 'auto-bat' files purged. So, I had to become my own 'computer exorcist'.

Other than that, this thing is hilarious!!!

I am sure glad the right reverend let us know how storage capacity can allow a demon in. Praise the Lord!!!! Now, my question for all the IT folks out there, is this: just how big is a demon anyway?

Hmmm...well, the only related news I could find was that, in 1985, DOS 3.2 came out w/ support for 720KB floppy disks. Since this was the major consumer (as such) OS, I'd say this is the ticket.

So, there you go. Demons are 720 KB large. That'd take about 4 minutes to download off the net at typical modem speeds.
