Band on the Run
I've seen many Jesus films over the years that don't make fun. Cecile B. DeMille when I was quite young. Once I studied New Testament at college, I heard of films to watch for. They were mostly available at art houses. One of my favorites is Franco Zefferelli's production of Jesus of Nazareth. It was an all star cast. Some Italian communist made a black and white film of Jesus, only using the actual words of Matthew. Italian peasant types were cast in the roles of Jesus and the apostles. Jesus Christ, Superstar-the play was better. Godspell, I met the author. The Last Temptation of Christ.-my favorite. I also went back to see films based on people who interact with Jesus. The Robe with Richard Burton was actually good.
