Anyone here watch Murdoch mysteries? When I watch the program I hear a lot of words that are used at the Kingdom Hall. It puzzled me for quite some time then I realized the connection. murdoch mysteries is set in 19 th century Toronto. The language used in many of the publications and theocratic language is a throwback from that era. It has not been updated.

On one episode Murdoch said " it behooves me". I've only heard that one other place.

I don't think so, I think the publications are very Americanised, especially the spelling. Is Candian spelling the same as American? I think a lot of the terms are very American too, there was another thread about this I will see of I can find it.

Hooked on Murdoch -- love the chemistry among the four principals:

"And what have you, Constable Crabtree?"

    "Well, sir, let's agree to disagree . . ."

"Have you ever heard me use a scientific term, Murdoch?" queries Chief Inspector Thomas Charles Brackenreid.

I remember reading some H.G. Wells when i left WT and was amazed to find terminology and references found in WT Lit.

I looked up the terms and words and they turned out to be masonic and wiccan in nature.

I can't remember exactly how far I researched it, but I believe Russell was pals with poet Keats and Wells had a connection to them too. All of them used this masonic terminology in reference to a better world.

There is an episode on murder in a Masonic Lodge where the "Great Architect" is mentioned: God.

That term has been used in WT literature not that far back.
