  On another thread, but I thought it deserved one of its own, our poster Alpha Man said :

  " When this system continues to drag on with no Armageddon in sight, J.W's will throw J.F. Rutherford under the 'bus like they did C.T Russell".

  My first reaction to that was, well they can't do that, they need the 1919 choosing of Rutherford to legitimise the present day G.B.

  But for how long ?

  I think Alpha Man has a point, I think they have an urgent need to distance themselves from Rutherford, he was nasty piece of work, and his writings are pure embarrassment.

  Somewhere in between the present distancing from Russell and making Rutherford disappear, they need to uncouple from 1914 too.

  How the hell are they going to do all this ?

  After everyone 40 and over are dead. It will be Sanderson's replacements that ditch Rutherfraud. Hopefully massive scandles or divine intervention will wipe out the WTBTS before that happens. Let's just say I am not getting my hopes up.

  It wouldn't be that hard either. Just imagine the born-ins of born-ins, further dumbed-down by a life of JW.org education. The sheeple are already obeying without question. Just imagine another 40-50 years of successful WT indoctrination. Then you have all the internet free, poor countries. They can't research the WTBTS. The leaders can change anything they want.

  Just imagine 40 years from now... The elderly Sanderson does his last Dell Projector AGM. He talks about his life of joy serving the WT, err Jehovah. He talks of all the nu-light and progress the Org has made. Next, year his replacements reveal the updated understanding/ new truth that Rutherford was actually the "Evil Slave" and Jahhoober's spirit has been gradually refining the Organization! Oh yeah..the end is really, really close, just around the corner.

  Exactly.

  I'm really surprised they didn't work that out with the most recent change. After all is said, Rutherford's "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" and his ridiculous 1925 prediction of the early resurrecton of the "saints" are the oldest "false prophesy" of the F&DS now. Toss out the Judge and it moves you up to only having to deal with 1975 and after.

  After all. It was Rutherfords idea while probably in a drunken stuper mistook for " Divine intervention "

  to name them " Jehovah's Witnesses " that clearly went against the authority given Jesus in Matt 28:18

  to be able to tell folks to be witnesses of himself ( Jesus ) in ACTS 1:8

  The JW's have morphed into an Organization worshipping cult. Still it is doomsday rooted, and thrives on a sense of urgency that the end is at hand and that they are God's sole channel of truth & salvation.

  1914 and everything leading up to the date and after the date is proving false. How do they uncouple from this date?

  A) Agree with historians and accept that 607 in incorrect, and that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587. This makes their 2,520 year End of the Gentile Times prophecy end in 1934. They can easily blame 1914 on Russell and his Pyramidology. Then they can easily spin their prophecies & beliefs around events leading up to and including WWII. (Jesus becomes King, Satan cast down, rise of Hitler, World at war, rise of UN, etc.)

  B) They can say after Rutherford died (1942) that the JW religion was inspected & choosen by God, and organized to be his people & channel. They can start the heavenly calling and F&DS choosing after Rutherford dies and it completely cuts him out of the F&DS class. Rutherford becomes like Russell.....just another man leading to the start of the truth in the last days.

  C) The JW's can then explain why the end hasn't come yet, why there has been an increase in Memorial partakers, do away with the ridiculous over-lapping generation belief and go back to "this generation" belief. This will give them a revised sense of urgency that gets the new Watchtower HQ built and gets them to 2034.

  D) As 2034 approaches, all the Watchtower has to do is start emphasising that Noah preached for 120 years before the flood and that gets the Organization to 2054.

  If you are the Governing Body....you can imagine and do anything you want with a cult whose members accept "progressive revelation" of their beliefs and worships the manufactured clean image of their Organization.

  Alphaman....maybe you should apply for the GB job.Sounds like you found some new light. It makes as much sense as anything else they came up with.

  Well reasoned Alpha Man ! They certainly have an urgent need to do something along these lines to keep the whole thing rolling, especially now that 100 years since 1914 is upon us.

  The only thing that worries me about our speculations here is that we are giving them ideas !

  It will be interesting to see how it all pans out, they certainly are proof of Evolution ! to keep what is basically an anchronistic 19th Century Cult ticking over in the 21st Century they have had to adapt.

  How well they adapt over the next few years will be crucial to fending off their extinction.
