They have really laid the ground work and are eliminating almost all doctrine that can be scrutinized. I guess it will become a touchy feely religion with nothing but godly principles to talk about.

AND..............that The End(TM) is very very very close. (Give us your money!)

I've been thinking for a while that they're distancing themselves from all the technical, doctrinal type stuff that can be scrutinized. They don't want scrutiny. They realize now that they can't defend their doctrine. They are beginning to play it safe by just focusing on practical application of Bible material - not deeper stuff that would have to be defended.

I think they had more confidence in the days when their guru, Freddy, was still alive. But there are no more gurus (or seeming gurus) for them to run to. They've received so many letters asking questions they can't answer that they finally asked everyone to stop writing and asking about stuff that's not answered in print already. The days of the old, confident, in-your-face JWdom are over.

    You put this gen in

    You put that gen out

You put put this gen in, then you shake it all about

    You do the hokey-generation-prophecy

    then you turn around

    thats what it's all about!

    BAM!

Obviously that change will not bee seen by the vast majority of people

Why not? It will spread by word of mouth.

1914 is integrated in all JW teaching. The Gentile Times, The Invisible Presence, The Sign,..... 1914 is integral.

The definition posted does not invalidate the inter-lapping ones since their lives too are associated with the sign

Regarding the GT, all pieces of the puzzle about the last days fit except for generation. Logically, since the discernible sign began in 1914, the GT should begin within a lifespan 85 years give or take. It did not happen but that does not invalidate the other pieces that fit like a crossword puzzle or a picture puzzle, Christ's invisible rule and the sign. Logically, since the sign is evidence of Christ's return, the GT must come because it is associated with the sign and it does non make sense for the sign to last hundreds of years or go beyond human lifespan, and how could people hear a preaching message of divine origin and despise it without any consequences or heed it without any blessing? Dropping generation is non-sequitur. The problem is a meaning that makes sense. Since the season began in 1914, there had to be people that saw it that are alive today. In Moses day, God stretched generation until only a couple of people survived, so there is a basis for the this stretch too if one was holding on to generation. But besides generation, Christ has been ruling invisibly for almost 101 years. That is a long time. Something must strike.

Dropping the generation, or at the very least reducing the significance of it is entirely possible. The wording change in the Insight Book already removes the specific argumentation that it has a modern day fulfilment.

The overlapping teaching still gives them significant time to simply stop talking about it.

The move to online publication storage means that an increasing number of dubs will not have access to material within "approved" channels that says anything different to the current teaching. Of course the info will be there but only if you are prepared to hit the apostate sites.

Given the recent argumentation used about the F&DS Slave being more "discrete" now by assigning less and less significance to parables in the Bible I can see a time when there could be QFR that comes out with some reasoning that the generation only had a literal application in Jesus day and the discrete thing to do now is simply serve Jehovah without a time limit in mind.

The significance of the generation teaching is now only really felt by ones in their late 30s and older - the ones who lived through the use of the generation teaching (and memorial partakers) as a sign of the imminence of the big A. Give it 10 years and all the current crop of young men that become the elders of the future will have no comprehension of the emphasis and import placed on the teaching what is ALREADY 20+ years ago.

Fisherman: " Christ has been ruling invisibly for almost 101 years. That is a long time. Something must strike."

    yes, it really struck me,

the whole wt doctrine enterprise is a wacky fraud. This rewriting of history, gutting of the 'deep things', will take the fun out of seeing them squirm when exposed.

Regardless of whether they dump 1914 or not, ol' Freddy Franz would be freaking the f**k out if he could see how much of his crazy-ass theology they've had to circular-file .
