Here is Genesis 3:6 from the NASB translation which is in line with other translations.

6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

Here is Genesis 3:6 from the New World Translation.

6 Consequently, the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something desirable to the eyes, yes, the tree was pleasing to look at. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it.+ Afterward, she also gave some to her husband when he was with her, and he began eating it.

The NWT leaves out part of Eve's desire to eat the fruit.. "desirable to make one wise".

What is the purpose of altering the translation to leave out this important point?
