I had never heard of this until recently. Apparently, it's gone viral and Eurocrats are worried.

I think this is a variation of the hanky code.

I think this has a 'banned in Boston' quality to it. Ouch, that really dates me!

Perhaps those who find it offensive would do well not to give it any more publicity or panache by making an issue of it.

It's only right to expose and publicly shame the anti-semitic idiots who make this gesture.

Sure, they have every right to make it (as they should have) and the rest have to right to call them for what they are and debunk the lame excuses that it's some kind of general "anti-establishment" gesture.

The bottom line is nobody gives a shit about what hand signals a french comedian is making this month.

difficult to maintain the anti-establishment rhetroic given that his wife has trademarked the gesture.

Once upon a time, there was a city named Boston that strictly enforced laws against pornography.

Whenever a new dirty novel was published, it got quickly banned by Boston authorities.

Eventually, new sexy novels adopted this as a badge of honor, a guarantee that you were buying a really good dirty book and so put "Banned in Boston" proudly on the cover.

My point is that sometimes repression can backfire and produce the opposite result. Obviously, the comedian is having a good time with this.

I think things like this should be banned - it's obviously designed to cause offense and push the limits. Would people tollerate someone giving a full-on nazi salute? Hell no!

So why should anyone tolelrate some third rate 'comic' doing a variation of it for publicity or because of some anti-semitic beliefs?

But I wish it wouldn't get publicity. I wish the press would for once show a little bit of responsibility in what and how they report things. They are too easily used by people like that.
