Will the candle you light this Christmas make a difference? You know it won't. Will your prayers give warmth or shelter to those in need or will it be the goodness in your own heart and those around you that helps those in need? Has the man on the Cross accomplished anything? Has he wiped the tears from our eyes or has he watched us suffer?
Don't place your trust in a fraud, make the changes yourself! Help a stranger, give blood, carry a donor card or make a small donation to charity. Don't try to change the world.
Think about it, are the lives of the skeptics, heretics, apostates and atheists really so empty of meaning and purpose? Isn't there a better way free from ignorance, tribalism and bigotry?
I'll do things my way. I'll help people whenever I can and look after my bit of the planet. I'll try to increase the sum of happiness and knowledge in my small patch of the world, Ill make my children feel secure, loved and content. I'll do all this leaning on the strength of my friends and the the people I love.
This Christmas let's turn to God and Christ and politely say; "thanks guys, but we'll take it from here".
