"I believed myself for a long time that there was something
true in all the display of peace and happiness which I saw
reflected in the faces of a good number of nuns. But how soon
my delusions passed away when I read with my own eyes, in a
book of the secret rules of the convent, that one of their
rules is always, expecially in the presence of strangers,
to have an appearance of joy and happiness, even when the soul
is overwhelmed with grief and sorrow! The motives given to the
nuns, for thus wearing a continual mask, is to secure the
exteem and respect of the people, and to win more securely the
    young ladies to the convent."

Honey, One thing I learned along time ago, even before I became involved with any religion, is that you should never let them know what hand you're holding.

While I agree that the deception that is displayed by those who would suck you into their demented way of thinking is wrong, I believe that most people, whether Catholic, or JW, or whatever, never really reveal the real deal about who they are until they know you for awhile.

Sometimes even the people that you are closest to have a hidden face that they've never shown.

Honey, it's not just the Witlesses that do that. It's all of us.

Siegswife, how true. What are we 'truley' like under adverse circumstances?
