It's a complicated fairy tale modeled after a parable atributed to Jesus as author. Due to the clever juxtapositoning of Pastor Russell the chief editor of a incorporated printing business(established in 1884).This parable eventually became a prophecy about Pastor Russell being appointed to some imaginary 'Faithful Steward' who is able to decipher the bible correctly and lead people who read his printed material to salvation and glory(approximately).
By employing the terminology of this parable to the Corporation's chief editor and calling him 'The Faithful Steward' of Matthew 25, the corporation managed to manipulate its readers to become unpaid volunteers to sell the corporation's printed material thus increasing profitability. End of the World predictions is the specialty of this publishing business with an ever growing army of dedicated readers willing to put themselves in the service of selling the corporation's good in order to earn salvation. Not a bad business model for the time and so business grew as readership increased and the printing presses hummed bringing in the bucks$$ Corporationally everything was set for expansion with out having to pay any taxes.
Eventually the dates made prominate by C T Russell came and went and all the predictions this self appointed Faithful Steward of God came to nothing, 1916 he died suddenly.
As time goes on and the Faithful Steward(Russell) dead now for a couple decades and obviously not fulfilling the role predicted which in turn called for a completely different interpetation of the parable. This new revised fairytale now makes all annointed claimants part of a composite Faithfull Slave, or Faithfull Slave Class who had before them 2 possiblities ie-> Being faithfull of wicked.
As time goes on more and more dates are given for the End of the World to come on or before. Of course nothing ever happens because the interpetation of this parable is all based on wishfull thinking and humongous leaps in logic. So in order to keep this 'nonprofit corporation' afloat and profitable a remake of this parable was deemed necesarry by a bunch of new boys on the Governing Body. In order to tighten their grip and strenthen their authority over the rank and file members(common Jehovah Witnesses) of this Corporation they have gone on to declared that they alone make up The Faithfull and Discreet Slave of Jesus parable thus effectively giving the CEOs of the Watchtower Corporation unequivocal and unquestionable authority with a very interesting and arrogant twist namely that the rank and file need not worry about this slave ever becoming wicked even though the parable itself leaves the matter up in the air with the saying: "if ever this slave(F&DS) should become wicked and say in his heart 'my master is delaying'". So contrary to the parable's indefinite final out come for this slave the the Governing Body arrogantly proclaims they will always be faithful and assures the Rank and File not to worry about the undetermined nature of the slave final outcome.
In my opinon this interpetation displays the depth of bias and wishful thinking of those CEOs that have proclaimed themselves to be authority figures. Surely they can offer no real wisdom just delusions and wishful thinking.
