Hi E-Man: Songs 205 and 218 mention "Christ." So Jesus is there less than 1% of the time. I guess if commercialism can take "Christ" out of X-Mas, the Society can take Jesus Christ out of religion. It seems to work for them.

    Englishman: Point well taken..

This reminds me of an incident back some twenty five years ago when the WT revamped the song book. A good friend of mine named Tom (who was always on the “fringe” as a JW) pointed out that all the references of Zion and Zionism in the old song book were taken out in the new, reissued song book. He filliped through the old book and showed me many examples, as I remember.

I asked why would they do that? He stated that the GB were just a bunch of “Germans” who are opposed to the term and use of these words........now I wonder if this is true.........

G'day Eman and well done! You've "hit the nail on the head" with this post.

The Dubs have reduced the role of Jesus to that of an angel (Michael) and replaced him as the Mediator with the Organisation.

    Cheers,

    Good topic!

I've always wondered, when talking about Jesus, my parents admonished me to do things "Jehovah's Way". It seemed Jesus was a mere angel doing God's will. My mother would say, 'worldly people put the emphasis on Christ. That is worship. The emphasis lies on Jehovah God."

There must be a balance though.

Ah, that arrangement takes me back, Eman. Remember when we used to have live music at the conventions? Some admittedly not so good but others were quite good. So much better than the 'Mr Whippy' type of music served up nowadays.

One of the reasons that orchestras were 'canned' was because 'some brothers' were getting too 'egotistical'. Well, that was what the WTS said. It also took too much time out of 'proper' things like witnessing. They never really explained how preparing the music and playing it at the assmeblies was not praise of Jehovah. But then, they wouldn't, would they?

    Cheers,
    Ozzie
