It never ceases to amaze me how dumb some JW's are... (Sorry if I offend some lurkers... but seriously when you wake up, you will be like... HOW ON EARTH DID I EVER BELIEVE THIS?)

So here's my post (anonymous) on a FB page asking JW's to comment on their highlights of this week:

"I loved Romans 10:9! It says that we must recognize Jesus as Lord to be saved!! In the original greek, the Bible uses Kyrios. In the Hebrew versions, they use ha-Adhon. When I compared with appendix 1H, it says that ha-Adhohn is a title exclusively reserved for Jehovah God"...

    That was my post...

    So far, 4 likes...

I AM TELLING THEM SOMETHING THAT SHOULD FREAK THEM OUT, AND THEY LIKE IT!?!??!! NO REPLIES SAYING WT HECK?!?

ARE THEY NOT SEEING THE POINT THAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM???

This totally proves to me that the critical thinking level, or even the THINKING level, for a lot of JW's, is exactly ZERO.

Sometimes I wonder if it is hopeless...

I hope that the rest who have seen the post (this page is liked by thousands of JW's)... will connect the dots... wait... they are connected already. I hope that some will actually THINK and see how my post should freak them out...

It is only if I post in a "fighting" tone that they reply... if I post like I actually agree with the WTS... they read it but don't get the sense of it... -.-

Learning and commenting are almost on the rote level. Remember how much fun and scholarly the discussions were at Watchtower studies.

Wow... It's sad that, from posts I recently read for example, now the Bible is going to be even MORE dumbed down!! so sad...

    ILTT,

I think you are right that is went over their heads. I will say, having aHebrew version of Romans 10:9 happen to use a word that is usually exclusively reserved for Jehovah, is not in and of itself very interesting. It would suggest that those who spoke Hebrew (Jews), thought Jesus was Jehovah and of course they did not not do they beleive the promised messiah is part of a trinity.

So while I can see your point and respectfully disagree with it, I think your FB post probably flew over most of their heads if not all. :)

Well my point is for them to be like what the...? But I guess I did not make it pointed enough... The point here is that a lot of J versions think that Jesus is Jehovah, and so their footnote is interesting because it says "Not Jehovah". They have to explain themselves, saying that the use of the title which is exclusively used for Jehovah is JUST AN OPINION of the translators...

What they don't say is that ALL places where "Jehovah" appears, it is an opinion of the translators. There is no "Hebrew" word in Romans 10:9, or anywhere in the NT because it was in Greek...

I am pretty smart, but I dont see your point- then again, I dont care about what the Bible says.

I used to read it at the Kingdom Hall and its a violent, pornographic book, but even those thrills wear off eventually.
